Nusuk App Guide for UK Pilgrims 2026: Download, Register, Book Umrah Permits & Rawdah

The Nusuk app is Saudi Arabia’s official digital platform for Umrah pilgrims. You cannot perform Umrah without it. You cannot book a Rawdah visit without it. You cannot enter Makkah during peak seasons without a valid Nusuk permit.

This guide walks UK pilgrims through every screen, every button, and every field — in plain English. No technical jargon. No assumptions. Just step-by-step instructions from someone who has tested the app from a UK device.

What is Nusuk? Why Every UK Pilgrim Needs It

Nusuk (نُسُك) means ritual or act of worship. The app is the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah’s single digital gateway for pilgrims. Before Nusuk, tour operators managed permits manually. Now you control your own permits directly from your phone.

You need Nusuk to:

  • Apply for and receive your Umrah permit (mandatory to enter Makkah for Umrah)
  • Book your Rawdah visit in Madinah (timed slots, sell out fast)
  • Access your digital pilgrim ID
  • Receive official Saudi government updates about your travel

The app replaced the older Eatmarna platform in 2023. All UK pilgrims must use Nusuk as of 2026. The app is available in English, Arabic, Urdu, French, and several other languages.

How to Download Nusuk App in the UK

The Nusuk app is available on both iOS and Android UK app stores. It is free to download.

For iPhone users: Open the App Store → Search “Nusuk” → Look for the app with the green and white logo published by “Ministry of Hajj and Umrah” → Download.

For Android users: Open Google Play Store → Search “Nusuk” → Same green and white logo → Download.

⚠️ Important: Do not download fake apps. The official Nusuk app icon is a green circle with a white mosque silhouette. The publisher name must say “Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.” Fake apps exist. Check the developer name before downloading.

How to Register on Nusuk from the UK – Step by Step

You need your passport and your Umrah visa details before starting registration. You cannot complete registration without both.

Step 1 – Open the app and select language.
Tap English at the bottom of the welcome screen. The app remembers your choice for future sessions.

Step 2 – Tap “Create New Account”.
You cannot use the app as a guest. Registration requires a valid mobile number and email address.

Step 3 – Enter your mobile number.
Use the number with your UK country code (+44). Drop the first zero of your mobile number. For example, 07712 345678 becomes +447712345678. The app sends a one-time password (OTP) to this number. Enter the OTP when prompted.

Step 4 – Enter your email address.
Use the email address you used for your Umrah visa application. The app sends a verification link. Open your email on the same phone and tap the link. This links your pilgrim identity to your app account.

Step 5 – Create a password.
The password requires at least 8 characters with one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, one number, and one special character. Save this password in a UK password manager or write it down. You will need it at the airport in Jeddah when immigration checks your permit.

Step 6 – Add your personal information.
Enter your full name exactly as it appears on your passport. Any mismatch between your passport, visa, and Nusuk profile will delay your entry at Saudi immigration.

Step 7 – Add your passport and visa details.
You will need your passport number, expiry date, date of birth, nationality, and Umrah visa number. The visa number is on your e-visa document. Double-check every digit before submitting.

Step 8 – Complete identity verification.
The app may ask you to take a selfie for facial recognition. This is normal. Follow the on-screen instructions. Keep your face centred and well-lit.

Once your verification is approved (usually within 1 to 24 hours), your pilgrim ID appears in the app. You can now book permits. Request your Makkah and Madinah hotel quote while you wait for verification.

How to Book an Umrah Permit in Nusuk

You cannot perform Umrah without a valid Nusuk permit. The permit is digital — no paper printout required, though saving a screenshot is wise in case of poor internet at the Haram.

Step 1 – Open Nusuk and log in.
Use the email and password you registered with.

Step 2 – Tap “Umrah Permits” on the home screen.
The app shows available dates and time slots. Permits are released in batches. If you see no availability, check back daily. Saudi authorities release new slots regularly.

Step 3 – Select the date and time for your Umrah.
You choose a specific date and a 3-hour time window. Your permit is valid only during that window. Arrive early. Miss your slot and the permit expires.

Step 4 – Select your pilgrim group.
If you registered family members or group members in your Nusuk account, add them to your permit. Each person needs their own visa and registered profile. Group permits ensure everyone enters together.

Step 5 – Confirm and save the permit.
The permit appears in your “My Permits” section. Screenshot it. Save it to your phone. Show it at the Haram entrance when security guards ask.

🕋 Planning your Umrah hotels? Once your Nusuk permit is confirmed, book your hotels near Haram Makkah with Global Stay. We respond with personalised quotes within 24 hours.

How to Book a Rawdah Visit in Madinah Using Nusuk

The Rawdah — the blessed area between the Prophet’s pulpit and his tomb — requires a separate Nusuk permit. Rawdah slots are limited and book out weeks in advance, especially during Ramadan and school holidays.

Step 1 – Open Nusuk and log in.

Step 2 – Tap “Rawdah” or “Ziyarah” on the home screen.
The exact label may change with app updates. Look for an icon showing the Green Dome of Masjid An-Nabawi.

Step 3 – Select Madinah as the city.
The app also shows Makkah ziyarah options. Make sure you select Madinah for Rawdah access.

Step 4 – Choose a date and time slot.
Slots open approximately 3 to 7 days before the visit date. For peak periods (Ramadan, school holidays), book as soon as the window opens. Slots for women and men are separate. Women’s slots are often available for longer.

Step 5 – Add your group members and confirm.

Step 6 – Screenshot the permit.
Security at Bab As-Salam and other Rawdah entrances scans your permit QR code. Keep your phone brightness high.

For the best Rawdah access, stay at a hotel in Madinah near Nabawi within 200 to 300 metres of Bab As-Salam. Millennium Taiba Hotel is 250 metres away — one of the closest options.

Nusuk FAQs for UK Pilgrims

Do I need Nusuk if I booked a package with a UK tour operator?

Yes. Even if your tour operator arranged your visa and transport, you still need the Nusuk app on your own phone. Your Umrah permit is digital and tied to your pilgrim ID. Tour operators cannot book Rawdah permits for you — each pilgrim books their own slot.

Can I download Nusuk before I get my Umrah visa?

You can download the app at any time, but you cannot complete registration without a valid Umrah visa number. Start the download before your visa arrives, but wait until you have your visa documents to finish the identity verification step.

Why is Nusuk not sending me the OTP code?

UK mobile networks occasionally block automated international SMS messages. Try these fixes: restart your phone, remove any call-blocking apps temporarily, or use a different UK mobile number (a family member’s phone if yours is not receiving the code). If none work, contact Nusuk support through the app’s help section.

I am staying longer than 30 days. Do I need multiple permits?

Your Umrah permit is valid for a single entry to Makkah for the purpose of performing Umrah. Some pilgrims require a second permit if they leave Makkah and return later. Check your permit validity inside the app. For stays longer than 30 days, you may need to apply for an extension through the Nusuk platform or through your visa sponsor.

What is the cheapest time for Umrah from UK in 2026?

Nusuk permit availability is highest and easiest to book during off-peak months. September to November offers the best combination of lower hotel prices, manageable temperatures, and good permit availability. Read our full cheapest month for Umrah UK guide here.

My Nusuk permit says “pending approval” — what now?

Most Umrah permits are approved instantly. If your permit shows pending, check that your visa details in the app exactly match your passport. Common mismatches include: your full name includes a middle name on your passport but not on Nusuk, or your passport number has a typo. Correct the mismatch and resubmit. If still pending after 48 hours, contact Nusuk support via the app’s help section.

Can I book my Makkah hotel before I get my Nusuk permit?

Yes. Submit a hotel quote request as soon as your travel dates are confirmed. We source hotels near Haram Makkah and hotels in Madinah near Nabawi without needing your permit number. Hotels refundable up to a certain date give you flexibility while you wait for Nusuk approval.
